Chapter 1
What is getting paid to or GPT?
GPT means Get Paid To, and it is the most commonly used abbreviation. People often speak of the GPT industry, or the GPT community. In general a GPT Program can be any type of program that offers their members cash rewards for performing simple online tasks, such as visiting websites, or by completing online offers. Most of the several different GPT programs basically have their own abbreviations. A good example of a GPT program is a PTR (paid to read) or a PTC (paid to click) Program.PTR 9(paid to read) is the term used for the programs that pay their members to receive their emails. Other terms are GPTR - ‘Get Paid To Read’ or GPTRE - ‘Get Paid To Read Email’. Some would say Get Paid To Visit Websites would have been a better name, because users are eventually getting paid after visiting the advertised website. However, reading the advertisement text that comes with the emails is important. An advertiser writes it, and without advertisers there wouldn’t be any emails to read.PTC (paid to click) programs are very similar to PTR programs. The only difference is that they don’t send you email. In order to earn money you’ll have to login to the members area, and click on the banners provided there. Besides the PTC programs, many PTR programs also have a PTC feature. In your account menu you might find a PTC section, where you can get paid additional money or points, to click banners.Basically what these advertisers are doing is paying you to look and click on ads that you would normally block with your pop-up blocker. It is a way for them to get to the audience that will actually read the pop-ups. You are giving them consent by giving them your email address to send the advertisements to also. That’s why you will be giving them an email that you will only use for the GPTs. We will get into that later on in the book.So there you have the explanation of opportunities to make money with these programs. It can be exciting, fun and simple once you get the hang of everything. It doesn’t happen overnight and it is definitely not a get rich quick scheme. It takes work to find out your own personal system to make it a success. If you want to get started the easiest site I would suggest is Cash Crate. It has tons of FREE offers. The address for this site is:http://cashcrate.com/379956The follow is from the tutorial page of this site:Completing Cash OffersCash offers are the heart of CashCrate. Follow the steps below to start making money.Click on "Complete Offers" in the Member's navigation bar.Click on the "Cash Offers" tab in the offers box.Decide which offers you want to show and how you want to sort them. To start off with, we recommend you show the '100% Free' offers and sort by 'Rating'. These offers are completely free to complete and the easiest offers come up on the top of the stack. Now click 'Go!'.Choose an offer from the table that appears. Note the description (which tells you how to complete the offer), then click on the offer name. The offer will open in a new window. Complete the offer using truthful information. After you're finished, closed the window. You're done! The only thing left to do is submit the offer to them so they can credit you. Go back to the offer table and click the 'Submit' button to the right of the offer you just completed. The offer will be added to your Pending list and removed from the offers table.Once they confirm the offer (usually within a couple hours), the money will be moved to your monthly earnings and the offer will be put in your Completed offers table.
Chapter 2-
Is this really FREE?
This question is asked all the time. Is this really FREE? Yes, it is free to sign up and free to do most offers. There are many offers that you can PAY for and get money to sign up for them, but I recommend only doing the free offers. The best and easiest of offers are called email submits and zip code submits. On most sites you will get a credit for them in about 24 hours or less. I have never signed up for an offer that was not free and I have never given out my credit card number. This a certain way that you have to complete these offers or they will no credit.
The instructions are as follows
Click on the offer banner. Another window will open with the actual offer.
2. Enter the requested information (usually your email address or zip code) and hit submit.
3. The next page usually asks for your personal info.
4. The next several pages will be yes/no pages. I always say no to the entire question. Sometimes you may have to click yes to at least one offer in order to move forward. Its o.k. to do so. You will not have to purchase anything. If pages allow you to click a skip button, do that instead of filling in all the no boxes.
5. When you finally get to a page that says Thank You or something similar and has a huge list of offers to choose from scroll down to the bottom and click the next page link. Do this on each page until you come to the last page. If there is a link to bonus offers click on it.
6. Now go back to the GPT site and click the submit button under the offer banner. Sometimes there will be a small box in which you have to enter your user id.
7. Minimize the offer and leave it open for at least 3 minutes. You can go on to more offers and it will not affect the previous offer.Note, if several boxes open up or pop-up asking you to an offer that is not part of the original offer just minimize it and finish your offer.
Chapter 3
What About Junk Email?
A lot of people ask if by signing up to these websites will they get junk email. The answer is yes, if you use your general email address. Those of us who have been doing this for a while have several gmail addresses that we use. The purpose of this is to avoid the junk email. You will need a different email address for each email submit that you do. Gmail will allow you to sign up for numerous accounts. I have 3 that I use. You can make these emails address look different to the tracking system by placing a period in between letters. For example, you can make up an address like whataboutjunkemail@gmail.com. Then for every email submit it would go like this, w.hataboutjunkemail@gmail.com. The next one wh.ataboutjunkemail@gmail.com, the next submit wha.taboutjunkemail@gmail.com and so forth. Some people recommend that you be as creative as possible and make the email as long as you can. I haven’t seen any difference in getting my offers credited any easier for both but it’s entirely up to you. Just remember to check into each account to keep them current or it can get suspended or closed.
Chapter 4
Can anyone do this?
The answer to this one is yes; anyone over 13 years of can do this on most sites. It will usually tell you what age can participate. Also, if you can type anything at any speed you and you know your home address you can do this. You can only do the sign into any of the websites from the same computer or IP address. They have really been trying to cut down on fraud.
Chapter 5
Can more than 1 family member do this?
The only way that more than 1 family member can do this is if they do not share the same home address or the same computer with the same IP address. As I said in the previous chapter, they are really cracking down on fraud and fraudulent users. Many great sites have been shut down because there are multiple people trying to use the same computer or multiple family members using the same mailing address. This is a legit business and the site owners would really like to keep it that way.
Chapter 6
What is Cheating and Fraud?
The previous chapter leads me into what needs to be addressed as cheating and fraud. You cannot repeat offers on other sites. That is a sure fire way to get yourself suspended from a particular site as well as other ones. Almost all the site owners know one another and work with each other in some way or another. A lot of them are verified gpt boycott supporters. The address for that site is: http://www.gptboycott.com/index.php?id=64. Copy and paste the address in your browser window to find out what sites are on the list. Fraud is considered not being truthful or not using your real name, address, or phone number when filling out surveys or offers. Like I stated before, this is a legitimate way to make money and there is always someone out there who think the can get away with something by cheating and using fraudulent information, thereby hurting those of use who are making a good living doing this.
Chapter 7
Do I have to pay taxes on what I make?
The answer to this question is yes, but only if you make $600 within that tax year. Most sites have a place where you can fill out a 1099 form. If you get your payments by check or money order you have to pay taxes, however, many sites are making it more and more available for you to receive some type of gift card. You do not have to pay taxes if you opt for the gift cards. I have gotten both and sometimes I take the checks so I can use them to show the nay Sayers as proof that I actually make the money that I say I do. The gift cards come in handy around holiday time and I have been known to give the away as presents.
Chapter 8
Do I have to use my real name and address?
Well, of course you do. This goes back to the fraud and cheating chapter. How else would you get paid if you use you real information. As I stated before, this IS a legitimate business and why would you give false information in the first place? The sponsors are tracking your IP address so they will get you in the end. Also you will get into big trouble with the IRS if you plan to make more that $600 or more and your name and address are different. So PLEASE DO NOT use fraudulent information EVER!!!!
Chapter 9
How do I get paid?
Almost all the sites have different ways to be paid. You can be paid by check, money order, Papal, gift Walmart gift cards, Amazon Virtual gift cards, and even a variety of restaurant gift cards. Most people like to get checks in order to post them on websites to prove that the site really does pay. I have done that several times, but now I really like getting the gift cards because as I stated before you don’t have to pay taxes on the gift cards. There are several new sites that some sites are using like Egold and Revolution Money Exchange; the sites that I belong to don’t use them yet.
Chapter 10
What’s the difference between participating and completing surveys?
This is where people get into trouble, get confused and basically give up because they think that it’s all a scam. If a site asks you to “participate” in a survey, you DO NOT have to complete it. Most sites will state to what page you have to complete, for example it will say, complete with VALID information to page 2. Almost all the sites will tell you how many pages that you have to fill out to get credit. You will get used to what sponsors require you to do what. “Completing” surveys means just that. You have to complete the survey to get credit. These are the higher paying offers and take a little more time. Again you will get used to what sponsors require this. Just remember to use VALID information!!!
Chapter 11
What kinds of surveys will I be doing?
There are several different types of surveys that you will be doing. The most consistent of them to get credit for are the daily surveys. On some of the sites such as The Dragon’s Gold have 4 daily surveys that total .60 a piece so that give you $2.40 a day on one site which equals $72 a month!!! It depends on the site and the amount, but I have just done the daily surveys at times and cleared over $300 for the month!!! There are surveys that are just sponsor surveys and can pay up to $5.00 a survey. If you are lucky enough to get a Pinecone Research invitation on one of the sites then you will get a consistent $3.00 a survey and become a member of one of the most respected survey companies in the US. It’s also FREE to join!
Chapter 12
Should I use my home phone number or Cell phone number?
This is also a question that is always asked. I started out using my home phone number and found out that it wasn’t such a good idea. Phone solicitors started calling even though I am on the “ Do Not Call List.” When filling out the information for your phone number you are giving permission to call you. I use a service call Simple Voice Box. It is FREE and you can get a number that will go to a voice mail that you can check. They have other services that you can pay for but I just use the FREE services. The address is http://www.simplevoicebox.com/ , copy and paste it into your browser window. There is another one sponsored by Google called Grand Central Voicemail it is also FREE. The address for that is;http://www.grandcentral.com/ copy and paste this one into your browser window. Just remember to use your good judgment on this one. If you don’t mind all the calls, then use your home phone number. If you do mind, then use the following sites above to avoid them. I almost NEVER give out my cell phone number. Some sponsors who offer free ring tones end up charging your cell phone to use a numbered amount of “free” ring tones. Always, always read the fine print whenever giving out your telephone number whether it’s your cell or home number.
Chapter 13
What if I forget to cancel a trial offer?
This is where A LOT of people get very upset, confused and claim that GPTs are scams. There are literally tons of trial offers to sign up for on the GPT sites. You can make quite a bit of money just signing up for them, but remember if you really don’t the product it’s better not to sign up for it in the first place. Most of the trial offers are for at least 14 days. Most also require your credit card number to start your trial offer. I NEVER EVER give my credit card number on a GPT site. It’s just something that I don’t feel safe about. Also, if you sign up using your CC# there can be quite a hassle getting them to stop taking the payment off. So, my best rule thumb still stands for this one; just do the FREE email and zip code submits and the daily surveys.
Chapter 14
How many sites can I sign up for?
You can sign up for as many sites as you want to and many of the sites give you credit when you sign up for some of them, however if you sign up for too many it’s hard to keep track and there is a greater chance of repeating offers. I am currently signed up for 25, but I rotate doing them. One week I will work on 5 or so depending on how many new offers and how much the offers are worth and so on. The sites that I don’t do the offers on I do the daily surveys, trivia and any other contests that they might be having. My favorite thing about working the different sites is that sometimes I will work them at night and wake up and find that my totals have gone up. It really gets me pumped up to do the rest of the sites!!!!
Chapter 15
Can I repeat offers on other sites?
I have stated in other chapters that you CANNOT repeat offers on other sites. In order to make money, you have stick to the rules and almost all of the owners of the sites keep track of people who are considered “cheaters.” Almost all of the sites also have a way to keep track of the offers that you have done called a GPT tracker. The address for this site is:http://www.gpttracker.com/ copy and paste this address into your browser window.I can’t repeat enough how important it is NOT to repeat offers!!Chapter 16Referrals, referrals, referrals!!!!In order to maximize your earnings you have to get referrals. That’s just the bottom line. There are endless ways to advertise for FREE to get referrals. The first thing that I did to start getting my referrals is to start a blog. My blog is on Blogger.com. It’s FREE and the address is:http://www.easysimplefreemoney.blogspot.com/ copy and paste this address into your browser window. I have a ton of info for anyone who wants to keep up with the latest contests, news and generally need to know how to get started. I also advertise on craigslist, work at home forums, make flyers and on Vista Print you can get FREE business cards (just pay shipping and handling) There are also forums on the sites themselves that you can advertise on. Remember that I do all this for FREE!!!!!
